    What we know is missing

This page exists because a website that shows only what it has is easy to mistake for a website that shows everything. The Society has been meeting since 1955 and publishing since well before this archive begins; what follows is an honest account of what is here, what is not, and why.

    What the archive holds

243 documents, spanning 1998 to 2024: 121 newsletters, 67 sets of meeting minutes, 49 treasurer's reports and 6 year-end reports. The newest of them is dated 16 January 2024. Every one of those figures is counted out of the archive as this page loads, so this page cannot drift away from the record it describes.

The years with nothing in them

2012 and 2014 produced nothing at all. That is a fact about the Society’s year, not a fault in this website: nothing was found, so nothing is shown. Where a year is thin — one document, or two — it is thin for the same reason. The table below is the whole record, year by year.

Documents held, year by year, measured against the fullest year. A year marked "none" is a gap in the record itself, not a gap in this website.

Known to exist, and not published here

Fourteen documents that sat on the old website are deliberately not on this one. They are not the Society’s writing: a 1951 QST article, an ARRL band chart, a Kansas History paper, a Riley County Historical Society newsletter, a US Army manual, the Winter Field Day Association’s own rules and others of that kind, put on this site years ago with no record of permission. They are left out because they are not ours to give away, not because they are missing — each is easy to find at its source, and the Society will link to it rather than host it.

Five documents sat on that list for a year and should not have: the Member of the Year award guidelines, a page of the Society’s own January 2007 newsletter, a Winter Field Day flier with the club’s name across the top of it, the map to the club’s own site, and the card Glen Rubash’s widow sent the Society in 2023. They were withheld on the strength of their file names. They are here now.

Six more files were linked from the old site and were never on it: a spectrum wall chart, a field manual, two articles about learning Morse, a note about ADSL filters and one photograph. Those links were broken on ks0man.com before this migration began, and they are broken at the source too.

Two Field Day videos are also absent. They are large enough that serving them from this site would slow every page on it for the sake of two files; they belong on a video host, embedded here, and that is the intent.

    Everything else is genuinely gone

The archive was assembled from the Society’s old website, which is itself a partial record. Newsletters that were never posted, minutes taken on paper and never typed up, photographs in a shoebox — none of that is here, and no amount of careful migration can conjure it. The record starts where the website’s record starts.

If you have something we do not

A newsletter in a drawer, minutes on a floppy disk, a photograph of Field Day 1986 with people in it who can still be named: these are the things that close a gap. Send them, or ask how, through the contact page. A scan is enough; the Society would rather have a bad photograph of a good document than neither.
