    Where the record stops

16 January 2024 is the date of the newest item of any kind in the Society’s web record — newsletter, minutes, treasurer’s report, news item or photograph.

This post exists to mark that, and to make the point the whole rebuild rests on. The site this one replaces carried no date on its front page. It looked exactly as current on its last day as it had on its first, while quietly describing a repeater on a tower it had left and a controller that had been removed.

The banner on the front page counts the days from this date. When somebody publishes again, the count resets on its own. Until then a visitor is told the truth immediately, instead of finding it out by driving to a meeting that has moved.

Newest content of any kind: 16 January 2024

Measured across the complete site mirror: 151 HTML pages, 166 PDFs and 104 images. Nothing in the corpus is dated later.

Measured. Last checked — 26 days ago.

The S-COM 7330 controller is out of the system

At the meeting of 12 January 2024 the S-COM 7330 controller was voted out of the repeater system. The record names no replacement.

The same minutes report the Yaesu 70 cm repeater as inoperative, so the 442.000 MHz machine and the monthly Fusion net that ran on it are not listed on this site as operational.

    Repeater controller: None stated

Confirm what is controlling the repeater today, what identifier it sends and what its timeout behaviour is. Until then this field stays empty rather than repeating a controller that has been removed.

    Unverified. No check on record.

The repeater has moved off the KSDB-FM tower

The Motorola Quantar that has carried 147.255 MHz for years was taken off the KSDB-FM site at Kansas State University and moved to a Riley County tower site.

The minutes record that it came back online. They do not record that the move was finished: the backup machine was down at the time, and an earlier forecast had put completion in mid-2024.

Repeater site: A Riley County tower, since November 2023

Confirm the site, the antenna height, the transmit power and the coverage. Every published figure in the archive describes the old location and is now either wrong or unknowable.

    Unverified. No check on record.

This is the most consequential technical fact in the Society’s records, and it existed in exactly one place: a PDF of meeting minutes. Every HTML page on the old website went on describing the KSDB tower.
