Regular meetings are held on the second Friday of each calendar month. Doors open at 6:00 P.M.; the meeting is called to order at 6:30 P.M.
That date is computed from the rule rather than typed into a page, so it cannot go stale — and it shows the rule that produced it, so you can check the arithmetic yourself.

Constitution, Article II, Section 2
You do not need a licence and you do not need to be a member. A quorum is simply the members present, so the meeting you turn up to is the meeting that decides things.
The Society’s year
- Second Friday, monthly — regular meeting, 6:30 P.M.
- After the meeting — the Elmer Hour, an informal help session for anyone with a question. Started March 2022.
- June — ARRL Field Day. The Society has run one since at least 1997 and photographed most of them.
- Summer — the annual picnic, usually with an equipment auction.
- November — the annual meeting: officers are elected and dues are levied.
- December — the Christmas gathering.
Where the Society has met
A club that has met every month since 1976 has moved a lot. Recorded venues, in order: Rathbone Hall at Kansas State University (to 1998); the Riley County Red Cross (1999–c. 2008); the Manhattan Church of Christ (2009–2010); the Blue Township Fire Department (by 2014); the Vista Drive-In (2015–early 2016); the Manhattan Public Library (2017–2020); assorted open-air and restaurant venues through the pandemic years, including Keats Park; and the Senior Center from January 2024.
Street addresses for private and volunteer locations are deliberately not republished here.
Field Day, and other days worth the drive
The Society has worked Field Day every June for longer than this website has existed. These are the albums and write-ups as the club published them at the time, carried over from the old site.
- Field Day 1997 — eight photographs, including a beam going up a tower by hand
- Field Day 1998 — photographs and the score the club turned in
- Field Day 2005 — twelve photographs
- Field Day 2015 — the year written up at length
- Field Day 2018 — antennas, operators, the tower, and the results
- The International Endurance Horse Race — amateur radio as the only communications over a hundred miles of Flint Hills
- Ride for Red
- RMS Queen Mary
