Committee Reports:

●

Field Day:

○

Publicity: Jim will check on radio publicity and Ashley will create a flyer.

○

Safety Coordinator: Patti Johnson, KE0BBJ. She is going to purchase 1012 brightly colored pool noodles to put around the guide wires for safety.

○

Public Education Event: Past years experience has proven that interest level for education is lower than desire to get on the radio. So we will focus on GOTA station.

○

Fire Extinguisher: Dave will bring.

○

Mast & Solar Tracking: Jim has gotten verbal affirmation and will check in about them.

○

Pavilions & Chairs: Need to determine date of pick up from pot county because we don’t want too close to stampede.

○

Chem Lights: Ryan will bring.

●

Special Event Station @ Fort Riley

○

Suggested change of location to Ashley & Ryan’s apartment instead of dealing with hassle of having it on base.

○

Asked for volunteers for radio operation of event and no real interest

○

Lack of interest and too many other events resulted in a motion to table the special event station @ Fort Riley this year. Motion was voted on and approved by majority of club.

Old Business:

●

Upcoming Test Sessions

○

Next exam is tomorrow May 13th at the Manhattan Public Library, Groesbeck Room at 9 am.

●

Bike Rides

○

Gravel Ride: Time being moved because of miscommunication on their part. All volunteers should use APRS. This ride will be a slower pace and the medium to long routes may have more transports. Dave Every, KD7QAS, will bring APRS trackers for the bike riders. After hour report will be sent out on listserv.

○

CASA September 16th bike ride First race will start at 7:30 am and second start will be 8 am. Longest route will be 67 miles south around Junction City. Medical teams will be at each SAG. Path finder will also have service stops. The parents of the cub scouts will probably be riding with their children. Jim will work with Karen to clarify MAARS role in this bike ride.

■

Potentially more volunteers will be needed including stationary ones.

■

In the past, several repeater have been linked to cover the dead spots like the KSEMS.

■

Mike Asbury may be able to put up an antenna on his land to help. Jim will work with Mike on this.

■

This will be put on the back burner to focus on field day.

●

After Action Report of Joint Exercise (MAARS, CERT, GAB) Green Apple Bike Rescue provided by Jon and saved on MAARS drive as well as emailed out with minutes.

New Business:

●

Station License: Who holds the copy because it is renewable within the year. Mike had a copy and gave to Dave. Brian may have the original if needed. Dave is going to work on this.

●

Kansas Hamfest: August 20th in Salina.
