MAARS Monthly Meeting
April 9th 7:30 PM
Manhattan Church of Christ
2510 Dickens Ave.
The
President’s
Corner
Brian Carter KC0DWX
Well again time got away from me and I’m sending out a very late and short newsletter.
Hopefully everyone is starting to enjoy the nicer weather and starting to be outdoors and get all those projects that spring brings accomplished.
Our April 9 meeting of
MAARS will include discussion of the Cabin Fever Bicycle ride in Pott. County on the weekend of April 17th. There are usually in the neighborhood of 250 bicycles on this ride and we have done a good job of keeping tabs on where everyone is located.
All help is always appreciated and we look forward to having more hams from around the general area help us out on this ride.
We will also see if there is any further discussion on Field
Day for this years event.
Several locations have been offered and hopefully we can narrow those down a bit and have a direction to go.
Dave(KD0AZG) has volunteered to head off the Field Day committee and I believe is still the only person actually working on this. Any other help is greatly appreciated so feel free to step forward and give a hand.
We have been discussing actually getting some meeting programs lined up and it looks like we will be doing a better job of having something to present at out meetings. We have come up with a couple of ideas to get the ball rolling but need more ideas from the group as well as things they can discuss or demonstrate.
April 2010
As always we welcome everyone to attend the eating meeting Friday night as well as the regular meeting. We usually meet at Sirloin Stockade around
5:30 PM to eat and then move to the Manhattan Church of
Christ for our 7:30 PM club meeting. We look forward to seeing you all there

Solar Flux: This flux number is measured from the amount of radiation on the 10.7cm band
(2800MHz). It is closely related to the amount of ultraviolet radiation, which is needed to create an ionosphere. The lowest possible number for this solar flux is 63.75. Single hop propagation already starts at 70 in lower latitude areas. Worldwide long distance propagation (DX) may turn up already with a solar flux at 120. From experience, an average solar flux of 170 seems to be ideal for 10m-20m bands
QRP DX with good possibilities during these conditions to reach every possible part of the globe
