THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER
So how is this weather? Hopefully the warmer weather is allowing everyone to get outside and complete all those projects that have been needing attention, and at the very least giving everyone a good chance to get out and enjoy themselves. Last month Frank Gose (KCØLUG) shared some information on the X Prize project and more specifically the Scaled Composites team lead by Burt Rutan. Thank you to Frank, as I know everyone enjoyed the program and learned some interesting facts. Our April meeting will actually be the 3rd Friday in April which will be the 16th. The normal meeting time fell on Good Friday so we decided to move it back a week. I will give a short talk on Geocaching, which was postponed from an earlier meeting since we have had a couple of volunteer programs lately. I would like to get suggestions from those that get together with us before the meeting for dinner. As our normal dining place has become quite a bit more expensive over the last year or two, it has been mentioned by a few people that it might be nice to try something different. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also scheduled for this month is determining our Field Day location. The club had pretty much narrowed everything down to either Pott. Co. Lake #1 or Milford Lake. Both areas sound good and should provide a good location for us to get out and enjoy each others company. We will look forward to seeing you on the 16th at the American Red Cross building in Manhattan, 2601 Anderson Ave. And don't forget to join us around 5:30 at the Sirloin Stockade in Manhattan for dinner.

TREASURER'S REPORT
April 2004
NEW FROM ARRL - Beginning October 1, 2001, our club will receive $15 for each new member joining the ARRL through our club. This is for new members or those who have not been a member for two or more years. There will be no commission for renewals but we still may submit your renewals, if you wish. Since the club retains the dues, it is necessary for you to write your check to MAARS, and then the treasurer writes a check to ARRL.
Dues will be due by Oct. 31 and are: regular membership $20, full-time student $10, family $30. Please complete the following when renewing your membership, even if you did so last year. Return to the Treasurer, at a meeting or to MAARS, P. O. Box 613, Manhattan, KS 66505-0613. If you are currently receiving both the email and paper copy of the newsletter, please consider just receiving the email copy. It will save the club $5-6.00 per year per copy.
